FAQ

Find answers to common questions about scalp micropigmentation, treatment planning, aftercare, and the La Scalp Artistry experience.

Scalp micropigmentation, or SMP, is a cosmetic pigmentation procedure that places small pigment impressions into the scalp to create the visual appearance of hair follicles. It can be used to create a shaved-head look, enhance the appearance of density, or reduce the visual contrast of suitable scars.

No. SMP is a cosmetic procedure and does not stimulate hair growth or restore hair follicles. It creates the appearance of hair follicles or greater density.

Treatment time varies according to the size of the area, the desired result, the condition of the scalp, and the treatment plan. Many treatments take place over multiple sessions. Your consultation will provide a more specific estimate.

Comfort levels vary from person to person. SMP involves repeated needle or device contact with the skin, so some discomfort or sensitivity may occur. Your artist can explain comfort measures and what to expect before treatment.

Results are long-lasting but not necessarily permanent. Pigment appearance can gradually soften or change over time due to skin characteristics, sun exposure, lifestyle, and other factors. Maintenance or refresh sessions may eventually be recommended.

Your artist will provide preparation instructions based on your planned treatment. In general, share relevant skin concerns, recent procedures, medications or products that may affect the skin, and any allergies or sensitivities. Follow the studio's specific instructions.

The first step is to request a consultation. Tell us which service interests you, share your goals, and we will discuss the next steps with you.
